Moonlight’s founders (Emma and me) are headed to Hyderabad, India to participate in the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES). Since its inception, Moonlight has been a marketplace for contractors and clients from around the world. The US State Department started the annual GES event in 2010 to foster international collaboration and partnership, and since then it has been hosted in different countries throughout the world.
We look forward to using the week to understand and extend access to specialized software developers from around the world. The Moonlight team has been traveling full-time around the world since starting the company as we seek to expand our horizons and challenge our assumptions. India is a growing and important part of the technology world, and Hyderabad is its technology epicenter - hosting offices from major domestic and foreign technology companies.
The Indian government is co-hosting with the US for this year's summit, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be opening the event. The Muslim-majority city is also extending hospitality to Ivanka Trump as one of the GES delegates, even after divisive rhetoric by the Trump Administration.
We are also excited that this year's summit highlights the theme "Women First, Prosperity for All," and that 50% of participants are women! More than 1,500 participants from over 140 countries will attend the event.
If you're in Hyderabad or visiting for GES, we would love to connect during the trip! We will be writing a follow-up post about the event and our learnings.
